In the SMP design the capabilities of Participants are expressed in terms of the Services they support in the context of specific Processes. To facilitate interoperability between all participants in a data exchange network these are commonly standardised.
For the operation of the SMP server only the identifiers of the processes and services are relevant. In the administration UI these can be managed by clicking Service Metadata in the top level menu and then selecting the Processes or Services tab.
As process or service identifiers can sometimes be very long and not so easy to read Holodeck SMP also requires you to provide a name that can be used as a reference.
